DIS at CHI 2025

Research carried out by the Distributed and Interactive Systems (DIS) group from Centrum Wiskunde & Informatica (CWI) has resulted in contributions to this year’s ACM CHI Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems (CHI 2025), to be held in Yokohama, Japan.
CHI is the flagship conference of ACM SIGCHI, the premier international society for professionals, academics and students who are interested in technology and human-computer interaction. Below we highlight the work we will present (1 Full Paper, 2 Late-breaking Works, 1 Special-Interest Group), and make an announcement regarding CHI Nederland (CHI NL).
The DIS group maintains its position within CHI NL, where CWI research scientist Abdallah El Ali is on the executive board since CHI NL was reinstated in 2020. Since April, 2024, he has been serving as Chair of CHI NL, and will continue to do so for the following year. Furthemore, Pablo Cesar maintains his role within LobbyCHI, a task force within CHI NL dedicated to HCI research lobby activities in the Netherlands. CHI NL is an organization that aims at connecting, supporting, and representing the Human-Computer Interaction community in the Netherlands. Last year CHI NL organized the HCI track at ICT.OPEN 2024 and the Experience & Beyond 2024 event. Recently, the annual CHI NL 2025 Community Event was successfully held in Enschede on April 10, 2025. DIS furthermore continues the tradition of creating a booklet that presents the CHI 2025 Dutch HCI Contributions.
